How the Light Gets In
'How the Light Gets In', completed March 7th, 2017
An original miniature artwork created using acrylic paints, Unipin, gel and Posca pens on 5" x 2 1/2" upcycled card.
"The birds they sang
At the break of day.
I heard them say,
"Don't dwell on what
Has passed away,
Or what is yet to be."
Yeah, the wars they will
Be fought again.
The holy dove,
She will be caught again;
Bought and sold
And bought again -
The dove is never free.
Ring the bells that still can ring.
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack, a crack in everything:
That's how the light gets in..." - Leonard Cohen, 'How the Light Gets In'
I absolutely adore creating these little minis - they are just so much fun to work on. And although they are small, just as much time and love go into painting them as into my larger works.
This cute little, mixed media creation is as gorgeous as it is diminutive - won't take up much room on the wall, but it has a huge personality! Its small size makes it ideal for placing on a shelf, table or dresser, and it also looks great in a collection of other mini paintings such as 'We Fall Only To Rise Again' and 'Strands In A Web'... 'How the Light Gets In' is a tiny, feature-packed feast, with details and textures making the original is so impossible to replicate that anyone buying it will have a huge advantage over those purchasing prints. Its multi-faceted nature can only truly be appreciated in the flesh...
